So, small confession: we actually knew how rad the latest Six One Indie Showcase was going to be prior to its official airing on May 22. Huge thank you to Mike Towndrow and the Six One crew for extending an invite for a cheeky little early screening at PAX East. Our jaws were on the floor, we laughed, we cried, and mostly we couldn’t wait for you all to see it too. Special shoutout to the 1000xRESIST vinyl announcement for making Emily cry big fat tears (seriously go check it out, the records are gorgeous)! It felt almost impossible, but we narrowed down our list of highlights to 15 favorites that you just HAVE to check out!

1. Truth Scrapper
Developed by: insertdisc5
Published by: insertdisc5
Release date: TBA
The showcase opened with an absolute banger of an announcement, unveiling Truth Scraper, the next installment from the developer behind In Stars and Time. It’s no surprise that this second title from insertdisc5 is once again leading with a really striking aesthetic, but I was also extremely intrigued by the brief moments of gameplay that we saw in the trailer for this upcoming interactive fiction game. –Emily

2. Oscuro Blossoms Glow
Developed by: Hongoneon
Published by: Hongoneon
Release date: 2025
This perfectly packaged puzzle platformer is filled to the brim with charm and whimsy in the most delicate way. After downloading the demo immediately, I have to say that the art style and soundscape are working overtime to make this a totally magical experience. Expect a few head scratching moments when it comes to the puzzles! -Kate

3. Jump the Track
Developed by: Seed by Seed
Published by: Seed by Seed
Release date: May 28, 2025
Who can possibly resist the undeniable siren’s call of Pachinko-like gameplay? I’m a die hard fan of Peggle, Peglin, Ballionaire, and soon, of Jump the Track. Seed by Seed, the developers of my beloved Baladins, are back at it with a game that combines peg popping with class consciousness. I’ve never been more ready to fight the system than after watching this trailer! -Emily

4. Bobo Bay
Developed by: NewFutureKids
Published by: NewFutureKids
Release date: Q2 2026
Does anyone know why watching this trailer made me cry? I’m still trying to figure it out. Perhaps something about the tender guitar music/caring for your pets in a unique and colorful world where you can wear over the ear headphones and skip around. Sounds like my dream life. –Kate

5. CARIMARA – Beneath the Forlorn Limbs
Developed by: Bastinus Rex
Published by: Bastinus Rex
Release date: 2025
I’m obsessed with a game that knows it’s a little freak, and CARIMARA: Beneath the Forlorn Limbs is putting its little freakiness front and center. The Steam store page describes it as a “short and creepy fairytale” with card-based gameplay. It also boasts a playtime that comes in at under an hour, so I fear the only downside is that it may leave me wanting more. –Emily

6. Future Vibe Check
Developed by: Unwise
Published by: Akupara Games
Release date: TBA
I’ve never really been drawn to automation games, because something about them seems so precise and rigid in a way that my personality doesn’t really jive with. However, Future Vibe Check integrates music into the automation mix, and I’m drawn to any game where I can create musical moments and soundscapes. Can’t wait to “Become the Vibe” and I hope adding music is the ticket to expanding my horizons when it comes to the automation genre. –Kate

7. ONE WAY HOME
Developed by: CYBERHEAD
Published by: CYBERHEAD
Release date: TBA
ONE WAY HOME takes the prize for “Most Gripping” trailers in the Six One Indie Showcase this year. I’d probably tell you I had just seen a feature-length film after watching the 90-second trailer. It looks like an amalgamation of the best gameplay elements from Inside, Stray, and The Last of Us, with a War of the Worlds-inspired plot. –Emily

8. Blue Ridge Hunting
Developed by: Jade Meadows
Published by: Jade Meadows
Release date: TBA
In this co-op horror game, you investigate and hunt cryptids with your friends in the Appalachian Mountains! As a huge fan of cryptids and low poly graphics, Blue Ridge Hunting is one of my most anticipated from this stellar showcase. I hope this is the next Phasmophobia for me and Emily! –Kate

9. Benny Bash
Developed by: Eduardo Scarpato
Published by: Eduardo Scarpato
Release date: June 30, 2025
There were a couple of games that looked to be directly inspired by Inscryption in the showcase (little bonus shoutout to Inkshade), but Benny Bash caught my eye the most, as one that will bring not just style and substance, but a certain personality and “je ne sais quoi”. This horror puzzle game invites you to discover the sinister mysteries inside a cursed video game from the 1980’s (also not the only title with a “cursed video game” plot in the showcase) to combine nostalgia with abject terror. –Emily

10. The Wide Open Sky is Running out of Catfish
Developed by: ZIPIT! Games
Published by: ZIPIT! Games
Release date: 2025
Taking pictures of little guys while riding on the back of a giant catfish is something I could never come up with in my wildest dreams, but I’m thrilled that a concept like this exists and that I will get to experience it via video game. I’m a total sucker for a charming creature collector, and I heard there’s a magic flute involved? Let’s go, my fishies! –Kate

11. Forbidden Solitaire
Developed by: Grey Alien Games, Night Signal Entertainment
Published by: Grey Alien Games, Night Signal Entertainment
Release date: TBA
No, this isn’t the kind of “forbidden solitaire” that you play on your work computer when your boss isn’t looking. It’s much more evil and cool than that! I’m very curious about how this game, from the creators of Home Safety Hotline, will incorporate FMV elements into its 90s CD-ROM-style game. As the trailer said, “there’s no reason for it to be this violent, it’s f***in’ solitaire!” But why not, you know? –Emily

12. Petal Runner
Developed by: Nano Park Studios
Published by: iam8bit Presents
Release date: TBA
I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge RPG girlie, but I am a pink and purple girlie. The limited color palette and beautiful pixel art of Petal Runner is a delight for the eyes, and the slice-of-life vibes/going vroom vroom on a bike are huge hype factors! –Kate

13. Dinoblade
Developed by: Team Spino LLC
Published by: Team Spino LLC
Release date: TBA
The name says it all. You play as a dinosaur wielding a big ass sword. It sounds like the Six One Indie crew has been stoked on this one for a long time, and it made for a phenomenal closer to the show! –Emily

14. Cast n Chill
Developed by: Wombat Brawler
Published by: Wombat Brawler
Release date: June 2025
I love fishing IRL, which I’ve always considered to be a peaceful/idle experience. I’m excited to have something that emulates these vibes while I’m in the trenches of the cold New England winter, which lasts no less than seven months. There are so many fishing games out there, but I’ve yet to find my perfect catch. Cast n Chill might be the one! –Kate

15. Six One Publishing
Ok, you got us. This isn’t a game, but it might just be the biggest news to come out of this year’s showcase. Six One Indie is throwing their hat into the indie game publishing ring! This crew not only knows the business like the back of their hand, but they also have incredible taste, as can be seen in the lineup of non-stop bangers highlighted in the show. We can’t wait to learn more!
