The Weird Days Job Simulator festival is live now on Steam, from August 24-31, 2026! This event, sponsored by indie dev studio Dark Cocooning, has brought together a cornucopia of strange, cozy, and unsettling job sim titles. We were honored to be invited to join in the event as guest curators, along with indie game superstars Andreea Gajda, John Rogers, and Lucy James. We’ve brought you our carefully curated list of ten titles that will either have you saying “I wish this was my real job” or “thank god this isn’t my real job,” all in the best ways possible.
1. Worming from Home

It’s not easy working 9-5, especially when you don’t have thumbs… or any appendages at all or even eyes. Do worms have eyes? Either way, the demo for Worming from Home absolutely stole my heart with its awkward controls and charming main character.

If you like performing squelchy tasks with the strong feeling that an evil entity is watching you (knowing there probably is), then The Mortuary Assistant is exactly what you need. This is not only one of my favorite job sims, it’s one of my all-time favorite horror games ever and is an essential pick for lovers of paranormal thrills.

Sometimes the best parts of your work are the side quests that aren’t on your official job description. Pon is technically a mail carrier, but that doesn’t stop him from living life to the fullest. I loved the variety of silly scenarios and gameplay moments in this demo and I’m looking forward to more.

Letter Lost brings so many different genres and vibes together. It’s a cozy mailroom job sim, but it’s also a devious puzzle game, and brings you along for a ride with its mysteriously sinister narrative. It gave me one of my most memorable gaming experiences of 2026 and should not be overlooked by job sim fans.

Liminal spaces are surprisingly hard to maintain. When the Partygoers are done partying and the Smilers are done… smiling, there’s quite a mess left behind! I loved playing through some of the Backrooms games with my crew, and now I desperately want to clean them together too!
